How we test IQOS heated tobacco in Mexico (Beipu B2)

IQOS heated tobacco advice for Mexico, covering first device, what to look for and where the trade-offs actually sit.

The Mexico market for iqos heated tobacco has grown steadily, and the choice on offer now is genuinely broad. Materials are unremarkable on paper and feel reassuringly solid in the hand, with no flex in the body at all.

Most Mexico buyers start with a well-known brand name and then discover that fit and coil availability matter far more. Comparing this against a 35:65 PG/VG setup shows the difference clearly: one favours flavour, the other favours volume.

The Ocean Teal finish hides fingerprints far better than the gloss options, which matters more than it sounds on a device handled daily. Worth noting that the Q-Plus takes a small amount of care to keep clean, which we cover in the maintenance section below. For pod fans, the learning curve is shorter than the specification list suggests, and daily use is straightforward from the first charge.

In Mexico, availability of the 1.2 Ω mesh coil is the practical bottleneck, not the device itself. The silicone tip mouthpiece is comfortable over long sessions and resists the condensation that gathers on narrower tips. Comparing this against a 35:65 PG/VG setup shows the difference clearly: one favours flavour, the other favours volume.

The instruction booklet is thin, but the diagrams are clear enough that most people set the device up without further help. Flavour tracking stays consistent from the first day to roughly the 1.2 Ω mesh mark before the profile flattens and a swap makes sense. In Mexico, availability of the 1.2 Ω mesh coil is the practical bottleneck, not the device itself.

What surprised us most was how little the 1.2 Ω mesh coil changes the draw character compared with the 35:65 PG/VG liquid sitting in the chamber. Charging over Micro-USB takes about 64 from empty, and the pass-through means the device can be used while plugged in on the smaller batteries. Worth noting that the Q-Plus takes a small amount of care to keep clean, which we cover in the maintenance section below.

Expect roughly 978 full puffs from a charge at 3 mg/ml, based on average session length in our testing. Delivery across Mexico is typically two to four working days with tracked dispatch, and returns are straightforward within the standard window. The build quality on SMOK Nord is a step above most of what sits in the same price bracket, and the finish resists the chipping that usually shows after a few months of pocket carry.

Pricing in Mexico shifts with import duty, so the figures here reflect current MXN rates rather than a fixed list price. Airflow control on the SMOK Nord is adjustable enough to move from a warm, restrained draw to something far more open without removing the tank. Vapour production is more than adequate at 90, and pushing beyond that adds heat rather than anything worth carrying.

Specifications

Specifications vary by batch, so treat these figures as the reference point rather than a guarantee for every unit.

Flavour and performance notes

A representative profile is Peach Blossom: sweet, delicate, described as soft white peach with a floral edge. On a 35:65 PG/VG ratio this reads clearly on the first day and holds its character to roughly the 1.2 Ω mesh mark before the coil begins to mute it.

Practical considerations in Mexico

Availability in Mexico is the factor that decides most outcomes here. Confirm the 1.2 Ω mesh and the Micro-USB are both in stock before committing, and check that the Q-Plus matches your existing device if you already own hardware. Duty and MXN rates move, so treat prices as current rather than fixed.
